“Four of us stayed here for my 40th birthday, and none of us wanted to go home. We fished the lake for 3 days solid. Biggest fish fell to the birthday boy, of course – 11 lb 11 oz Common Carp; but we all caught fish. The fishing was hard at times, but when you’re surrounded by such beauty, peace and tranquility – “who cares.” The lodge was fantastic to everything you needed. We will all be coming back for sure! “A fantastic lodge. The best accommodation we have stayed in on a fishing holiday! Washing machine and a freezer would make it perfect for a longer stay. [Washing machine already installed on site and will be installing a freezer for guests whose lodges don’t have one.] Don’t build too many lodges and spoil a perfect place! [Agreed]. “What a fabulous weekend - the lodge in a perfect setting, quiet and peaceful, great for winding down. The lodge itself spacious, clean and comfortable. My son and grandson came down for the day and had a great day fishing – caught 77 fish. My grandson (5) caught 10. he loved the open space and especially the jacuzzi bath. “Beautiful lodge and lovely lakeside setting with fantastic views. Caught many sorts of fish including 15 lb Common Carps, bream, Rudd, Roach, &c., and an ugly looking eel! Weather not too bad considering previous weeks...... Enjoyed the steam railway to Minehead, Tarr Steps, Cheddar Gorge. Managed to get out and about despite weather but would have been lovely to sit outside just one evening to watch a sunset. “We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the weather! The lodge is very comfortable and spacious with everything we needed. The lake has plenty of fish of varying size. Friendly hosts .......made us feel really welcome. If you need to go somewhere on a rainy day we recommend Wookey Hole Caves and Bristol Zoo. If it’s sunny and you want the beach, go to Brean: they have a wonderful breach you can park on next to the sand dunes. We have to come back next year. What a view, accommodation superb and very well looked after. Shame about the weather (cold) – it’s supposed to be spring. Warm welcome..... nice touches, i.e. milk in fridge, flowers and biscuits. “It was a brilliant relaxing fishing holiday. Caught lots of beautiful fish, all fully scaled – orange, gold – perfect fish. I caught over 100 fish in the week I was here including a 15 lb Common and a 12 lb Mirror. There was a lot of Ghost carp over 5 lb including a 10 pounder. Lots of mini Roach, Rudd, Bream, also good-sized Perch. My friend caught a 2 lb Perch. Overall brilliant cabin, fully equipped and could live here!! ....... Shame it rained on Thurs, Fri and Sat. Also would have been better if we caught the 30 lb monster. That would have made it perfect.” PS (aged 12), Wales. 1/8/08
